I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their interest in our web site and for visiting this site. We are striving to be as up to date as possible. We are also striving to make this department as professional as possible. The sheriff's office is sometimes lagging behind in some areas. Not to make excuses, but being a small department it is hard to keep up with the times. A sheriff's department responsibilities are very tremendous, ranging from civil to criminal, to tax collection, to court service, to traffic safety and vehicle collision investigation. We also have school resource officers and prisoner transportation thus making time for other tasks limited. We try to be very proactive in law enforcement activities. We emphasize substance abuse enforcement because of the large range of problems that accompany substance abuse such as DUI drivers, thefts, violence against others, and unemployment as well as other quality of life issues. |
We believe is one person is arrested at a time and is held accountable through treatment, incarceration or alternative sentencing, we can help break the cycle of substance abuse. We can help make the quality of life for many people better, ranging from the abuser to friends and family as well as neighbors. We are seeing a large number of out of state residents involved in drug cases and we are helping police communities out of state, not just Ballard County. With this we are training all our officers extensively in drug recognition. I am very proud of all our officers, those employed full time to our special deputies that volunteer numerous hours. All take their responsibilities seriously and are dedicated to our mission of working to help make our community a better place to live and raise a family. Any inquiries about employment or an application for employment can be referred to the Sheriff's Office at 270-335-3561 (see DOCJT website for minimum requirements for peace officer hiring/training). |
